Artificial Intelligence Policy

  1. Scope and Purpose

This policy outlines the principles governing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies in the research, writing, peer review, and editorial processes for manuscripts submitted to Nafisa Journal of Islamic Education and Learning. The purpose of this policy is to ensure academic integrity, ethical transparency, and responsible use of AI in scholarly communication. The journal acknowledges that AI tools can support academic productivity, language refinement, and data processing. However, AI usage must remain transparent, accountable, and subject to human scholarly judgment. This policy will be periodically reviewed to address technological developments and emerging ethical considerations.

  1. Guidelines for Authors

Use of AI in Research

  • Authors may use AI tools for data analysis, pattern recognition, modeling, qualitative coding, or simulations, provided that the specific tools and their functions are clearly described in the methodology section.

  • Authors must explain the limitations, assumptions, and potential biases of AI tools to ensure transparency and reproducibility.

  • Authors bear full responsibility for verifying and interpreting AI-generated results.

Use of AI in Writing and Editing

  • Authors must explicitly disclose the use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, DeepL, Writefull, or similar tools) for drafting, paraphrasing, summarizing, or language editing.

  • AI tools must not replace the author’s intellectual and analytical contribution.

  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content, including text assisted by AI.

  • Any AI-generated content must be carefully reviewed, verified, and contextualized to avoid misinformation or bias.

Authorship and AI

  • AI systems cannot be listed as authors under any circumstances.

  • Authorship is limited to human contributors who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research.

  • Authors assume full accountability for all manuscript content, including parts developed with AI assistance.

Ethical Considerations

  • AI usage must comply with ethical research principles, including data privacy, informed consent, institutional review standards, and cultural sensitivity.

  • AI must not be used to fabricate, falsify, or manipulate data, images, or citations.

  • Violations will be treated as research misconduct and may result in manuscript rejection or article retraction.

Citing AI Tools

If AI tools contribute to manuscript preparation, their use must be acknowledged in the manuscript. Recommended citation format (APA Style):
